Pokemon Go has shattered all records becoming the highest downloaded app. According to experts, the game has been downloaded over 40 million times from the App store and Google Play combined and has made more than $45 million in revenue.

Danger lurks where popularity grows. A fake gaming app called Pokemon Go Ultimate has made way to Google Play and according to ESET, a software security company, it is of malicious nature.

Reportedly, the app is not a game at all. It instead downloads and runs as a PI Network. When a user installed the app, the phone would hang and force a restart. After rebooting, the app would simply disappear, but run in the background and generating fake ads. There are apparently other apps disguised as guides and cheats for the game that are of malicious nature.

Several such apps have now been removed from Google app. Users who have already installed such an app can uninstall the app manually by going to their phone’s application manager.
