Watch: Vijay in a new warrior avatar in a fantasy land in Puli trailer
The Ilayathalapathi is the king of formula films. Do-gooder takes on baddies, also finding time to romance glam gals and spout ‘punch’ dialogues – that’s how his movies mostly go and fans love it just like that. In Puli, the trailer of which has just been released, he seems set to do all this, just in different clothes and in a different setting.
Puli is set in a fantasy land of extravagant palaces, giants, midgets and leaping panthers. ‘In a land ruled by darkness,’ the tagline of the video goes, ‘there is only one ray of hope’. And, cut to Ilayathalapathi, who then goes on to display his fencing and fighting skills.
He’s seen getting cosy with a very lovely looking Shruti Haasan and Sridevi’s look seems inspired by Maleficient. Sudeep is the menacing villain and we guarantee Vijay’s line ‘Paasathukku munnadi thaan naan pani, pagaikku munnadi naan puli,’ (I’m only melting snow in the face of affection; in front of enmity I am a tiger) will become part of fan lingo soon.
Watch Vijay do his thing, this time wearing the costumes of a medieval warrior.
