Where had Yo Yo Honey Singh disappeared for almost two years?

Yo Yo Honey Singh was at the prime of his career when he disappeared a couple of years before. Rumours hinted that he was in rehab after a drug overdose. But the singer, who recently turned 33, put the rumors to rest when he disclosed the details about his disappearance.

In an interview with Bombay Times, Honey Singh said, “The last 18 months were the darkest phase of my life, and I wasn’t in a state to talk to anyone. I know there were rumors that I was in rehab (for drug overdose), but I was in my Noida house throughout. The truth is I was suffering from bipolar disorder. It went on for 18 months, during which I changed four doctors, the medication wasn’t working on me and crazy things were happening.” He continued, “I must confess that I was bipolar and an alcoholic, which aggravated the condition.”

The interview revealed that Honey Singh hadn’t left the room the whole time. He was frightened to even face 4 to 5 people. He credits his mother as the sole reason for his recovery. He revealed that he wrote and composed a song called Rise and Shine after he watched his mother break down. He also penned 50-60 poems during the ordeal and wishes to publish them in the future.

Honey Singh wanted to personally let the fans know about his condition through the interview. “I think I’m not my own, or my parents’ property. I belong to my fans who have made me. They needed to know, and this was the best time to talk about it.” he said.

Honey Singh will perform at the Times Of India Film Awards (TOIFA) 2016. His film Zorawar is also scheduled for release soon. He plays the character of soldier in search of his father in the Punjabi action flick.
