After a man was killed while Tesla’s autopilot feature killed him in a nasty crash, in a more recent incident the car’s autopilot function may have helped save the life of a driver in Missouri in the US.

Joshua Neally who fell sick behind the wheel of Tesla model X , was ferried safely to a nearby hospital after the autopilot function of the car reportedly took over the wheel for nearly 32 km.

Mr Neally suffered a painful medical condition – pulmonary embolism- which comes as  a result of blockage of an artery in the lungs. He reportedly was on his way home from work when the incident happened.

“If something like that happens where I become unconscious or incapacitated while I’m driving, I’m not going to cross over the interstate and slam into somebody or slam into one of the big rock walls.” KY3 quoted Neally saying.

There have been some growing concerns about the car’s autopilot feature. The feature was blamed for a fatal accident earlier this year when it failed to recognize a truck in the path.

However, billionaire-entrepreneur and the founder of the car company – Elon Musk had denied that the feature was at fault.

Reportedly the car company tried to vindicate itself by releasing logs which revealed that the feature was not turned on at the time of the crash.
