Twenty-five years ago it was on this day the British scientist Sir. Tim Berners-Lee of European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) allowed access for all non-technical people around the globe to the institute’s internal computer networking system.

Do you know what that means in the present day world?

It is because of that very initiative you are able to read this article on your screen from your location. Simply put, internet’s world wide web (www) was introduced to public on August 23, 1991.

Lee who was a computer scientist at CERN invented the www in 1989. It was originally meant for the sharing internal information with university scientists and institutes around the world.

Later in 1991, Lee opened the gates of www to mankind.

The first website and webpage described the fundamentals of web, how to access information and how to host an individual server. With a vision to restore the first website, CERN reinstated the original address of the website in 2013.
