Doraemon might be one of the most popular cartoons among kids these days, but might soon be banned in Pakistan.

Taimur Masood, a member Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaf political party submitted a resolution in Pakistan’s Punjab Assembly seeking the ban of Hindi dubbed version of the popular Japanese series. He alleged that show was polluting children’s minds and causing harm to their physical well-being.

The resolution asks Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to ban the cartoon across all channels. It also asks to limit the hours of cartoon channels as a whole.

“The Hindi-dubbing of Doreamon is not only affecting the language of Pakistani children but as a whole leaving a bad impact on the society as well.”

“Cartoon channels are having a negative impact on the educational and physical well-being of children,” the resolution said.

The resolution, which is likely to be discussed in the next assembly meet has urged PEMRA to immediately ban the cartoon programme.
