If there is one good thing that has happened in India as part of the Digital India initiative, it is the service of free wifi connection across railway stations in India. After all, who doesn’t like a free wifi connection?

In a survey conducted recently to see which state/city uses the free wifi service to the best use, the results were very surprising. Bihar’s capital Patna topped the charts for the maximum data usage from the free wifi servicce offered on railway stations.

That’s not it! The more surprising bit of information revealed in the survey was what the people in Bihar searched for the most using this service. The officials said – porn! Yes. An official of RailTel, a mini-Ratna public sector undertaking wrote in a report to a popular news channel and said, “More than any other railway station in the country, where free wi-fi service was launched, the Patna railway station is on the top in the country for using internet search, particularly search for porn sites.”

We are sure this was not what Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in mind when he started the Digital India campaign across India.
