Kishan Yadav purchased an iPhone 6 for Rs. 60,000 in Gurgoan, but what he didn’t know was that he had actually purchased a bomb! Two days later, he noticed sparks coming out of the phone while he was talking to his friend using the hands free. He immediately threw the phone out of his car window and it exploded when it hit the ground.

Well, this was not the first time that a Smartphone exploded either in the users pocket or face. What could be causing this to happen?

Let’s take a look at the 5 primary reasons as to why a phone could explode.

1) Not using an original battery

It is best to purchase a battery that is made by the same manufacturer. Sometimes a change in voltage could cause overheating, leakage and explosion.

2) The wrong charger

Chargers are usually configured specific to devices, using the wrong charger might overcharge the battery and cause short circuits.

3) Overcharging

If your phone battery is at 80% it is advised not to charge it, let it drain before you plug the phone for charging.

4) Using phone covers with integrated batteries

Phone covers with batteries are readily available in the market. They are handy, but since most of these covers are manufactured by companies that do not manufacture the phones themselves, they might not have the knowledge of the make and model of the phones.

5) Different car chargers

Car chargers are available everywhere, sometimes even at traffic signals. We end up buying these chargers for the need of the moment. These chargers might not be built for the phone, so it is best to avoid purchasing them.

However, batteries are explosive, there’s no saying when and how. Smartphone manufacturers do their best to ensure that devices are safe, but a few precautionary measures could save you a lot of pain and money.
